Advanced Settings
Purpose
Configure low-level SIP and technical parameters for extensions.
SIP Settings
Purpose
Control SIP protocol behavior for extension registration and calling.
Transport Protocol
- UDP: Standard, low overhead
- TCP: More reliable, firewall-friendly
- TLS: Encrypted signaling for security
- Use Case: TLS for remote workers, UDP for local network
- Enable NAT: For extensions behind firewall/router
- STUN Server: Help discover public IP address
- Use Case: Remote workers, branch offices
Purpose
Define audio codec preferences.
Options:
- OPUS: High quality, low bandwidth, recommended
- G.722: HD voice quality
- G.711 (PCMU/PCMA): Standard quality, high compatibility
- G.729: Low bandwidth, compressed
Reorder Codecs
Drag codecs to reorder priority
Disable Unwanted
Disable unwanted codecs
Set Priority
Top codec is tried first
Result
Best quality call using mutually supported codec.
Purpose
How touch-tone digits are transmitted.
Options:
- RFC2833: Standard, recommended
- SIP INFO: Alternative method
- Inband: Audio tones (least reliable)
Use Case: RFC2833 for IVR navigation, banking systems.
- Enable/Disable: Keepalive mechanism for long calls
- Session Interval: Time between keepalive messages
- Use Case: Prevent router/firewall from closing idle connections
Advanced Options
Purpose
How often PBX pings extension to check registration status.
- Value: 10-600 seconds
- Default: 60 seconds
- Use Case: Lower value for better monitoring, higher value to reduce network traffic.
Purpose
Maximum simultaneous device registrations for one extension.
- Value: 1-10
- Default: 5
- Use Case: User with desk phone, mobile app, desktop app, web client.
Purpose
Force outbound SIP traffic through specific proxy.
- Configuration: Proxy IP address and port
- Use Case: Complex network topology, SBC deployment.
Purpose
Customize SIP User-Agent header.
- Use Case: Identify specific phone models or app versions in logs.
Purpose
Allow RTP audio stream directly between endpoints (bypass PBX).
Options:
- Enabled: Lower latency, reduced PBX load
- Disabled: PBX stays in media path (required for recording, monitoring)
Use Case: Enable for simple calls, disable if call recording/monitoring needed.

Troubleshooting
Registration Fails
- Check transport protocol matches phone config
- Verify NAT settings if behind firewall
- Confirm credentials are correct
One-Way Audio
- Enable NAT traversal
- Check firewall RTP port range (10000-20000)
- Test with different codecs
Poor Call Quality
- Switch to G.711 for testing
- Check network bandwidth and latency
- Enable QoS on network equipment
